Pale roses appear against three changing grounds, from brown-black to olive and deep green.
The first print lifts white roses out of a dark ground. The next shifts to lighter roses and buds, before the sequence ends with pale blooms among deep leaves. Each panel shows a different arrangement, while fine stems and thorns connect the compositions. Brown-black, olive, and deep green backgrounds make the flowers the consistent light element, so the set varies in tone without leaving its rose subject behind.
Deep green, olive, and brown-black can suit a living room or dining room with a darker palette. Pale roses stand out most clearly when the three panels stay grouped.
